An Exploratory Study of Digital Video Editing as a Tool for Teacher Preparation

The authors’ purpose was to examine teacher candidates’ perspectives of successful teaching through personalized video vignettes. Furthermore, the authors were interested in how participants’ written reflections might change as a result of creating these vignettes. This research used mixed-methods within the context of an exploratory multi-case study. Results showed that participants generally focused the video vignettes on themselves (rather than their students) and on what Van Manen (1977) called more technical aspects of their teaching.
