How Do Professional Learning Communities Aid and Hamper Professional Learning of Beginning Teachers Related to Differentiated Instruction?
This study explores how professional learning communities (PLCs) can enhance beginning teachers’ professional learning in differentiated instruction (DI). Furthermore, it examines how structural and cultural school conditions foster the development of PLCs in the schools’ organization. A comparative analysis was carried out in three schools with high (case A), medium (case B), and low (case C) levels of beginning teachers’ professional learning in DI.The analysis indicated that the three cases could be situated at different stages of PLC development. The authors can situate case C in the ‘beginning stage’, case B can be allocated to the ‘evolving stage’, and case A can be assigned to the ‘mature stage’. Furthermore, the authors found that organizational structures and cultural school conditionsin these three cases were related to different stages of developing PLC.

This study identifies the influential variables for professional development as a teacher evaluation outcome from a teachers’ perspective. The findings reveal that the effect of the evaluation system on professional development is limited. The effects teachers perceive from the evaluation system on their professional development may be related to different characteristics of the evaluation system. The results of this study show that limited teaching experience, useful feedback and a positive attitude of the principal are the most important characteristics of the evaluation system. These characteristics are positively related to outcomes of the teacher evaluation system on professional development.

Teacher Education Graduates’ Choice (not) to Enter the Teaching Profession: Does Teacher Education Matter?
The current study identifies the predictors of teacher education graduates’ choice on job entry. The participants were 217 student teachers (subsequently graduates) of integrated teacher training for secondary education. Results indicate that gender, initial motivation for teaching, mentor support, teacher education preparation, teacher efficacy, learner-oriented beliefs, performance in teacher education, and employment opportunities show differences between graduates who entered and those who did not enter the teaching profession.

Teachers' Perception of the New Teacher Evaluation Policy: A Validity Study of the Policy Characteristics Scale
Teachers' perception of the educational policy is vital to understand the success or failure of the policy's implementation. In this article, the authors describe the development and use of the Policy Characteristics Scale to measure teachers' perception of a new teacher evaluation policy. Implications for policy makers and school leaders are discussed.
