The purpose of this study was to determine how teachers rate themselves as compared to how students rate teachers. The authors used the Teacher Efficacy the External Influences Scale. This study demonstrates the utility of asking students to rate their teachers. In addition, the results indicate that students and teachers might perceive what influences students from different perspectives.

Research indicates that empowering future teachers as reflective professionals requires teacher education programmes to structure learning experiences that model reflective practice and facilitate the development of engaged learning communities. Through case study research this group of preservice teachers was able to gain a contextual understanding of early adolescents that not only impacted their perception and understanding of the target age group, but also allowed them to negotiate their preconceptions.

Field placement within teacher education represents a topic of interest for all preservice teacher programs. Present research addresses a set of important questions regarding field placement: (1) What pedagogical methodologies facilitate deep learning during field experiences? (2) Is there a significant difference in treatment effect for elementary education majors as opposed to secondary education majors?
