The present study examines 46 teacher-developers’ motivational experiences, like sources of enthusiasm and interest. It also examined their challenges and organisational support needed in the process of educational innovation, namely integration of RDI and education.

The aim of this study is to consider the role of self-confidence upon the approach to teaching and development as a teacher for a group of new academics. The current paper has aimed to illustrate the different ways in which confidence manifests itself in the participants’ experience of developing as a new teacher. The findings indicate a number of interrelationships between: confidence and content knowledge; confidence and approach to teaching; and experience and confidence. What was also apparent in the relationship between confidence and approach to teaching was the importance of richer and fuller incidental feedback from students, as a result of the use of more interactive approaches, upon an individuals’ confidence.

Leadership Development through Mentoring in Higher Education: A Collaborative Autoethnography of Leaders of Color
In this collaborative autoethnography, the authors explored how 14 faculty and administrators of color, identified as emerging leaders within their campus context, experienced mentoring and how these experiences have impacted their leadership development and sense of well-being in the higher education context. In this study, the authors provided evidence of the importance of supportive, developmental professional relationships in the lives of emerging leaders in higher education, especially among people of color. Leaders of color in faith-based higher education identified such relationships, involving psychosocial and career development functions, as fairly limited within their institutional settings.

This study was undertaken with two main goals. Firstly, the study aims to identify the factors that affect the use of social networking sites (SNSs) in e-learning, particularly among students and lecturers in higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Secondly, the study also intends to design and develop a social e-learning tool based on the identified factors. The findings revealed factors such as Social Networking, Ease of Use, Convenience and Ease of Use influence the use of SNSs in e-learning. Dissatisfaction towards current e-learning platforms (E-Learning Perception) also motivates the students and lecturers to seek alternative measures. In short, it can be concluded that the majority of the students and lecturers felt positively about the use of SNSs in e-learning. This was further proven with the implementation of Book2U, with the majority of the respondents perceiving Book2U as simple and appealing.

The current paper reports a self-study of multicultural identities in a public high school ethnic studies class and a university multicultural education course in Hawai‘i, a unique multicultural setting in which no ethnic group is in the majority. Three important findings emerged. First, a personal-constructivist-collaborative approach to self-study in an intellectually safe classroom environment provides both students and teachers with a context for challenging their socially constructed assumptions about race, culture, and ethnicity. The second major theme to come out of the data analysis describes how the students’ stories became transformational teaching texts. Third, self-study is a multicultural pedagogy that promotes social perspective taking, tolerance, and understanding of diversity through personal transformation.

The authors are pre-tenured faculty at dissimilar institutions in different regions of the USA, who found themselves in similar, unenviable positions – both were assigned to administrative positions that they did not seek. This study is an investigation of their processes of becoming leaders and how they aligned and/ or conflicted with their espoused beliefs. The data revealed an evolution in the authors' practice and identities as leaders, in some ways paralleling the change stages of forming, storming, norming, and performing outlined in team-building models. Data analysis revealed an evolution in their practice and identities as administrators.

This study is a preliminary exploration of current Common Core State Standards (CCSS) preparation in Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs). Focus groups were conducted with pre-service teachers and professors in general and special education programs at five colleges across two southeastern states. Findings address the perceptions of both groups related to knowledge, ability, contributions, and barriers to application of CCSS.

The present article traces the key periods, players and events which have contributed to the shaping of the current landscape of teacher education in Scotland. The authors examine ebb and flow amongst General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), government, colleges of education and universities. The authors conclude that the rate of change in Scotland is often glacial, with two major factors contributing to that, the conservatism of the teacher unions and indirectly of the GTCS on which these unions have a majority. However, Scotland is now committed to a career-long process of professional learning with periodic review of individual teacher progress and is moving towards a profession which is qualified to postgraduate Master’s level. In all of this, the teacher education faculties in universities play a part, in partnership with schools and local authorities.

Teaching as Lived Experience: The Value of Exploring the Hidden and Emotional Side of Teaching through Reflective Narratives
In this article, the author presents an approach to gaining awareness and deeper understanding of the practice of teaching through focusing on the lived classroom experience. The process is self-inquiry through engagement with Johns’ (2010) six dialogical movements, which results in gaining valuable insights into practice. The study highlighted some of the emotional aspects of the experiences of teaching and learning, and considered the importance of a teacher focusing on subjective response in order to gain awareness of self in practice. As a result of this narrative and guided reflection process, the author became more aware of the range of life experiences and abilities of the students, and he sought to arrange future sessions that were more encouraging and that attended to different needs more effectively.

This article uses critical autoethnographic self-study methodology to examine teacher educators' dispositions toward their students. Findings illustrate the powerful positions and judgmental stances teacher educators held as they navigated their teaching as well as a need for teacher educators to devote time to deliberate critical self-study of their own dispositions.
