Globalization is undoubtedly affecting every aspect of our lives.
The reach and the reality of globalization means that what happens “there” to “them” now affects what happens “here” to “us.”
The destinies of billions of people around the planet have become inextricably tied, connected by multiple networks, whether virtual, commercial, political, trans-familial, socio-cultural, or educational.
This is the globalized space in which today’s teachers operate, it is the space they must navigate, they have no choice to do otherwise than to look, know, think, understand and teach beyond the boundaries of the(ir) local.
But what exactly does that mean in practice?
In response, the author begins first with a brief discussion about globalization—what it means, and how it is—or perhaps not—affecting teaching and teacher education.
She then discusses the mindsets teachers (and therefore teacher education/educators) need to cultivate along four dimensions in the context of globalization: the curricular, professional, moral, and personal. She then closes with two immediate actions we should take as/to be a global teacher education community.

This essay critically examines the circulation of what appear to be a small set of ‘core’ ideas that are influencing national and institutional policies of teacher education.
The author explores the emergence of new players in teacher education internationally, including individuals, corporations, and international bodies.
Using policy documents, influential research studies, university program statements, and interviews, the essay provides a discursive analysis of the contradictory voices in what is becoming a global conversation of teacher education.
In many ways, these ideas marginalize the voices of teachers and teacher educators.
They tend to narrow the definitions of education and teaching.
As a counterpoint to these widely circulating arguments, the author explores how reciprocal teacher education exchange programs in China and the US create opportunities for alternative constructions of visions of teaching and teacher learning.

For this study, global content was integrated into one course of an undergraduate special education teacher education program. Results demonstrated that the candidates in the intervention group scored significantly higher than those in the comparison group.

This paper begins with a brief overview of the relationship between globalisation and the internationalisation of higher education. This serves as a backdrop for the focus of the article, which is the internationalisation of teacher education. This comparative case study demonstrates how different globalising processes influence various forms of internationalisation. Comparison also sheds light on the importance of attending not only to broader, global processes, but specific, local contextual factors.

The goal of this study is to explore how the ecological context of teacher education influences affect South Korean teacher educators' professional development. The findings reveal that South Korean teacher educators' main concerns about their professional development are related to conducting research. Furthermore, the global influences on South Korean teacher educators' work are also strong. They need to know global trends in education in order to obtain research topics and need to communicate with foreign scholars and educators actively for the purpose of active scholarship. The author recommends on using reflective methods, such as action research or self-study research to facilitate teacher educators.

This article asks 'how can sociology of education speak into contemporary educational knowledge and construct vocabularies that re-open dialogue about social justice'? A mobile methodology is used to report on three knowledge spaces that locate sociological practice and frame sociological knowledge. The author argues that global transitions have re-scaled and re-ordered the relation between the sovereign and governmental spatial powers that previously centred education.

In this discursive and wide-ranging article, the author wants to: (1) to interrogate the conditions that led to, and continue to wreak havoc as a result of, the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), and that underpin current policy approaches to teacher education in Australia and other western countries; and (2) to move in the direction of puncturing the status quo by proffering an alternative orientation to teacher education deriving from some of his own research that is informed by what he is calling the Socially Just School.

The authors investigate the consequences of international comparisons in education on the support of public schooling in the United States. The results suggest that framing educational policy with the goal of enhancing international competitiveness lowers subjective assessments of the quality of local schooling without increasing interest in additional spending to improve the nation’s education system.

The author attempts to understand the role and objective of the European Union (EU) steering university-based research policy in relation to national and other global actors, despite its being outside of the EU’s direct jurisdiction. The author suggests that despite strong globalising trends, the EU promotes these trends at the national and sub-national levels, and also attempts to structure the research environment in a complex heterogeneous way.
