This study examined the technology integration practices of teachers involved in a statewide initiative via one cycle of action research (AR). The findings revealed that thematic analysis yielded five themes: content and objectives, audience, classroom implementation, hardware and software use, and outcomes.

The number of students taking online courses in K-12 has increased exponentially since the inception of virtual schools in 1996. However, K-12 virtual schooling is a relatively new concept for those involved in teacher education. This article describes several major attempts to form standards and best practices. In doing so, the article also examines the research backing and the need for additional research to support such standards.

This study measures changes in teaching practices that occurred during a school year that included laptop implementation and professional development. The changes were documented through direct observations of more than 400 classrooms in more than 50 K–12 schools in 11 Florida districts.This research suggests that laptop implementation coupled with professional development may have an immediate impact on instructional practices.
