This study is examines how a critical-inquiry exercise in a social studies methods class transforms the content knowledge base related to a select group of historical figures for the preservice teachers. The findings reveal that preservice teachers have limited content knowledge bases. The author concludes that Preservice teachers must reach a level of critical consciousness before they can transform their social studies understandings and become transformative social studies educators. The purpose of this paper is to identify the challenges and discuss the opportunities of incorporating digital video technology into the research on preservice science teacher education. The authors conclude that the incorporation of digital video technology and coding software packages into research focused on improving the quality of science teacher education provides a number of methodological advantages for researchers and numerous benefits for preservice education faculty and students. However, the use of digital video research methods can pose serious threats to the validity of any investigation. The article also discusses future directions for DVT applications. More

Characteristics of German teacher trainees are identified through comparisons with German students on educational science course, and through comparisons with Swedish teacher trainees. This spatial study is aimed to understand the function space play in a combined credential program in the US in helping or hindering the program’s inclusive mission. The study examines how physical and social manifestations of general and special education are (re)organized in the new program. It was found that the lack of successful inclusive education in schools is related to the lack of well-aligned inclusive preparation in universities. Furthermore, physical and social spaces are active components of maintaining the educational status quo. More

This study investigates the role of the literary arts in fostering teachers' dispositions in one socio-multicultural foundations course. The author examined a class project that offered preservice teachers the opportunity to learn about the schooling live and learning of diverse students through reading and analyzing a common text.
